The state of the Mono project (part 1 of 2)

June 21st, 2006

I recently had occasion to chat about Mono, the open source, cross-platform implementation of .NET. I got to thinking about a presentation I gave last year to the NYC .NET developer’s group on an attempt to use Mono in a real world scenario when I realized, that presentation was just about 1 year ago exactly.

I decided to have a look at what progress the mono project has made over the past year. Tomorrow I plan to post a writeup of the advances Mono has made since then (version 1.1.8), but in the meanwhile, have a look at the presentation I gave last year : Deploying Mono in the real world: a case study (link to PowerPoint file)

Nice. It reminded me how Mono has changed signifantly over the last year course. It seems to pretty much catch up Microsoft .NET framework in term of API coverage as well as language feature
